Make plans to attend this year’s Falls-Free
Expo! It is worth the drive! Located
inside the wonderful Intergenerational
Center for Health and Wellness in Winston-
Salem, you can receive great information
about fall prevention, try out some
exercise classes to reduce your risk of falls,
get a free falls assessment with WSSU,
hear wonderful presenters, and you can
even enjoy a free lunch if you pre-register.
There will be vendors there with great
information on aging and freebies and who
doesn’t love doorprizes?
Ask around and get a car-full of friends to
go with you. Parking is easy and the
building is super-accessible for those
with mobility issues. Snacks are provided

presenters, and games in upcoming

We will be highlighting Falls Prevention in
September, join our friends in Francisco
when Jodi Hernandez with AARP will be
onsite to give you a free HomeFit Guide
with suggestions for home modifications
that you can put in place TODAY to make
living at home safer and more comfortable.
If you have a loved one who is
experiencing Mild Cognitive Decline, you
will want to attend the September
presentation with Debbie MacCauley
below. Debbie has many years of
professional experience dealing with
Dementia and Alzheimers and frequently
offers workshops at King Senior Center
and Walnut Cove Senior Center, offering
insights to many facets of Mental Health
of which we all can benefit. Hope you will
join her on Sept 22 in Lawsonville.
Our friends from Walnut Ridge Assisted
Living will be providing a light lunch for the
event below for those who pre-register!
Emily Martin, a nutritionist with Second
Harvest Food Bank, has put together a great
presentation on how to shop for healthier
food choices at your local Dollar General.

King Senior Center is opening our STEP-
tember Walking Challenge up to our
friends across the county! If you would
like to join our challenge, improve your
health and wellness, and get chances to
win some great prizes, give us a call by
Tuesday, September 2 at noon at 336-983-
0751. We will send you step count logs.
All steps count - even those steps at home
or to the mailbox! We have pedometers
that we will try to get to you at one of
our Expanded Sites. Get walking!
Two of the King Senior Center participants,
Gail and Howell Osborne, have
volunteered to plan some overnight trips
with Diamond Tours in the next year. The
first trip next spring is highlighted below,
and we are working on plans for points
north and south in 2026 as well. Many of you
haev traveled with Diamond Tours
before and they come highly recommended.

you are interested in learning more or signing up.
All senior adults are invited to the Senior
Citizens Day sponsored by the King American
Legion and Ladies Auxiliary coming up in
September at King Senior Center. Prizes will be
awarded, so pick up a Stokes County Fair Book
around the county and invite your friends to
join us too. Old Men in Hats will be provided
music and the Legion will provide free pizza
and drinks for lunch. Then make plans to visit
the Fairgrounds because on the 12th, Seniors get
in free! Check out our Senior Center exhibit too.
